Getting Kids to Wear Their Mittens!

Does your child refuse to wear their mittens?

Children don't like wearing mittens because they take away one of the most important tools they use... THEIR HANDS!!

Children use their hands to:

• touch
• explore
• interact
• play

Basically... everything they do involves their hands!

So how do we get them to wear their mittens? We teach them how to use their hands inside mittens.

Steps:

1. Practice using them inside

2. Start with a thinner pair and move to heavier winter weight

3. Make it fun

• Draw a picture
• Each an apple with a fork
• Build blocks

Once your child masters using the thumb inside their mittens, you'll find they are less resistant to the process.
